Obituary

Alesia Bonita Nunnally was born on Wednesday, September 14, 1966, in Miami, Florida, to the late Rosie Marie Nunnally. At the age of 18 months, she was adopted by the late Marjorie and George Shelby of Miami, Florida.

Alesia received her education in the Dade County school system. She attended North County Elementary, Thomas Jefferson Jr. High, and graduated from American Senior High School. After graduating from high school, she was employed by Dade County as a school bus aide for many years.

Alesia was an outgoing, funny, and loving person. She was always a sweet child, and it carried over into her adulthood. She was generous and very free-hearted. Her home was always filled with family and friends, and she hosted parties for every holiday and everybody’s birthdays. She was a lover of music and enjoyed telling jokes, watching others dance, and having fun.

Alesia was preceded in death by her son, Jarrell Welch.

On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Alesia peacefully transitioned from this earthly home to her eternal and final resting place in heaven with her spiritual father, Jesus Christ.

Left to cherish her memories are her son, Kalil Finley; sisters, Tonja Nunnally and Rosaline Williams; brother, Shawn Smoak; life partner, Alexander Bernard Finley; stepdaughter, Janie Finley; grandmother, Marie Nunnally; aunts, Gilda Lewis, Annette McDuffie, Kalethia Nunnally, Joanne Nunnally, Tabitha Nunnally, Latrice Tuff Nunnally, and Lashan Nunnally; nephews, De’Andre Nunnally, Malik Green, and Raekwon Smoak; grandnephews, Kamron Phillips and Darius Shelby; nieces, Krystal Nunnally, Demetryus Becton, Fathiyyah Shelby, and Georgina Rahming; great-nieces, Chaise Nunnally, Johniceia Owens, Makiyah Becton, and Jakayla Becton; uncles, Amos Nunnally and John Nunnally: godbrothers, John Owens, Aaron Foster, Celvin Conway, Gary Frierson, and Jeffrey Craig; and a host of other sorrowing relatives, cousins, and friends.

A special thank you to Barbara Jackson and Jackie Avant for your support and kindness during this difficult time.

Thanks to all who visited, called, and sent an encouraging word.
