Obituary
On November 28, 1954, a bundle of joy was delivered to Alorise Leonard Beason and Geneva Beason and was named Norrene Laverne Beason. Her siblings were Carolyn, Raymond, and Cynthia. Yes, she was the baby of the family which brought those “special privileges” with it.
Her siblings were often asked, “Why did you LET her do that, you’re the oldest?” And they would respond in a bewildered tone, “HUH?” Anyway, she was loved and protected. After all, she was loveable.
Norrene received her education through the Miami-Dade county public school system, subsequently graduating from Miami Norland Senior High School. She also received a teaching certificate from Miami Dade College. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for George Washington Carver Elementary School and Miami Dade College. Additionally, she was a tax preparer and worked in telemarketing. Norrene was an amazing cook and the proud owner of her catering service, “Savory Palate.”
Baptized in the Metropolitan A. M. E. Church, Norrene drifted toward evangelism as a member of the Koinonia Worship Center in Hallandale, Florida. She was a prayer warrior and influential in many lives. She was a comfort to and an aid to many sad and downtrodden people – cooking and delivering meals to needy areas.
She didn’t have much, but she gave a lot. God gave back. She often spread the Word of God and spoke of His good graces. Norrene was married to Moses Jackson and divorced. In time, she met, fell in love, and married Anthony Harris in March of 2011.
Anthony, himself a Prayer Warrior, was a Godsend to Norrene in many ways. He lovingly catered to her every need, in sickness and in health.
Norreen prayed and sang gospel songs while hospitalized. She fought hard and long against her illness, praising God until her voice went silent on March 26, 2024, at 4:40 p.m.
Norrene was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carolyn; and brother, Raymond Beason.
She leaves to cherish: her husband, Anthony Harris; sister, Cynthia Beason; nieces and nephew, Lawrence Beason, Johnalyn Foster, Kimberlee Williams, Dana (Ramon) Carr; grandnieces and nephews, Kodi Foster, Aubrey (Alexandra) Williams-Carr, Alec Williams-Carr, Raven Carr, and Ramon Carr, Jr.; great-grandnieces, Ariya Carr and Kamiah Toussaint; aunt, Norma Ballard; uncle, Alfred Beason; and a host of other relatives and friends.
