Obituary
The late Antoinette J. Reimers was born on April 2, 1950, in Miami, FL, to Raymon and Barbara Barnett. She grew up in Liberty City and graduated from Miami Northwestern High School. After she attended college, she started working for JMH as a nursing assistant in 1970. Later, she became an LPN2 in 1974. She then went on to become a registered nursed at Jewish Homes for three years. In 1986, she went back to work for JMH as a nurse manager for the Department of Corrections Health Services. While there, she supervised the medical care for about 1,500 inmates and 60 employees for the next 21 to 22 years until she retired.
After retiring, for the next seven to eight years she visited many state prisons as a Correction Liaison, where she presented the Children of Inmates program.
On December 19, 2016, she was inducted by the Order of the Eastern Star as a Worth Matron for Dorothy Coleman Chapter 19.
She was also a member of the Chi Eta Phi Soronity, Inc. Once a Soror, always a Soror.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her two children, Laquricia Terry (Marvin Vance) and Anthony Reimers; one granddaughter, Alicia Mosley (Jo’van Williams); three great-grandsons, Ja’cori Williams, Ja’nari Williams, and Rudy Willis, Jr.; two great-granddaughters, Ja’Kayla Willis and Ciyanna Benjamin; two nieces, Leedra Larry and Tiffany Barnett; one great-grandnephew, James Larry IV; and a host of other family and friends.
