Obituary
The late Barbara Franklin Washington was born on December 11, 1936, in Vidalia, Georgia, to the late Coreen Collins and John Henry Franklin. She was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, ultimately relocating to Miami, Florida, where she graduated from D.A. Dorsey Skill Center.
Barbara started her career as a Paraprofessional for Miami Dade County Public Schools at Edison Park Elementary School. She served in this position for 32 years until her retirement in 2003. Barbara was a dedicated member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she was a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, and member of the Usher board.
Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Johnnie L. Franklin.
Barbara departed this life on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 3:10 a.m.
She leaves to mourn in passing, six children, Devon Carter (Marylin), Patricia Nolan, Cynthia Nolan, Brenda Nolan, Phyllis Pierre (Dominique), and Leroy Nolan, Jr.; she was loved by nine grandchildren, Royce Carter (Jerrica), Jamal Martir, Dominique Pierre (Jennifer), Stanford Thomas, Jr., Jarvis Martir (Justin), Preston Carter (Whitley), Desmond Thomas, David Gardner, and Issac Stevens; three goddaughters, Linda Rogers, Ronatta Britt, DaShaun Jones; one cousin,Gail Struchins; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
