Obituary
Branden “BJ” Jones passed away Friday, July 7, 2023.
BJ was born on December 8, 1985, to Terry Rogers and Edward Collins in Miami, Florida. BJ was raised by Terry and his stepfather, Stafford, in Miami, Florida, alongside his younger sisters, Candace and Stafanesha.
He was always a very gifted kid. So much so that he was offered to skip the first and second grade in elementary school. He went on to graduate from Miami Central Senior High School in 2004.
BJ wore many titles: dad, son, brother, grandson, boyfriend, and friend, to name a few. His proudest role was being a dad. BJ leaves behind two children, Branden Jones (14) and Jayden Jones (11). BJ was a very active and hands-on dad. He could be found attending award ceremonies and football games. He was always his sons’ biggest fan. BJ not only was an active dad, he loved family gatherings and other special events.
BJ also excelled as an entrepreneur. In 2021, he had a vision to open his own convenience store, and he went on to do just that. This was an area BJ knew nothing about, but he was fearless in his pursuit. In 2022, he opened “Zoomz and Wamz” in the heart of Miami, Florida. With BJ’s charismatic attitude and down to earth personality, the store quickly became a staple in the community, offering much needed groceries, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He was always working on new ways to improve his store. He wanted to create a legacy that he could pass on to his sons. He was so proud of what he had accomplished so far.
BJ had the remarkable ability to impact all who he came across. He had an infectious smile that can be seen in hundreds of pictures taken with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward.
He will be deeply missed and is survived by his parents, Terry and Stafford; grandparents, Maddie and Eddie Collins, and Carolyn and Linwood Jones; children, Branden and Jayden; sisters, Candace and Stafanesha;
brothers, Markeith, Fontrell, Antwan, and Davonne; the mother of his children, Sherika; best friends, Antwan, Kenol, and Yolanda; and countless other close family members and friends.
