Obituary
Brian Ates, Jr., age 12, passed away, leaving behind a love that will never be forgotten. Though his time here was brief, his presence filled the hearts of those around him with a quiet, meaningful joy that will live on forever.
Brian's world was one of imagination, comfort, and connection in his own unique way. Like the message from a beloved story—"You've got a friend in me"—Brian's life reminds us of the quiet bonds that never break, even when we can no longer see them.
Though we wish for more time, we hold on to the love he gave and the memories he leaves behind. His story does not end here—it continues in every heart he touched.
Brian was a bright light in the lives of his family. He is deeply loved by his father, Brian Ates Sr., and his mother, Shannon Smith. He is also cherished by his siblings: Antonio Lewis, Mya Stewart, Brandon Ates, and Bianca Ates.
The late grandmother, Marie Preston. And the grandfather living James Smith in a host of aunts, great aunts, uncles, great uncles and cousins.
Brian will be forever missed and forever loved.
