Obituary
Bruce Dorsett, Jr. was born on July 31, 1954, to the late Juanita Gilchrist and Bruce Dorsett, Sr., in Miami Dade County. The angels of Heaven descended upon Bruce and called him
home to his Heavenly Father on February 18, 2024.
Bruce was born and raised in Miami and was a product of the Miami Dade County Public school system and attended Miami Jackson Senior High School. One of Bruce’s many gifts was hospitality. Friends were always invited to his home for music, delicious food, music, and more music. He loved parties and embracing the Bahamian culture. Music and food were a gift in his life and he loved to share his knowledge and love of them with his family and friends. Bruce made everyone in the Liberty City community family, he always had open doors and open pots. Another favorite pastime of his was fishing. He would always say, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” Bruce was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed dearly by his loving family and friends.
Bruce leaves to mourn: his father, Bruce Dorsett, Sr.; children, Roderick and Larry Dorsett; grandchildren, Roderick Dorsett, Jr., Rod’keriah Dorsett, Rod’Geria Dorsett, and Ki’Lariya Dorsett; siblings, sisters, Lefaries Gilchrist, who preceded him in death, Bettye Grant, Sharon Gardner, Guylaine Leroy, and Lashantavia Campbell; brothers, Paul Gilchrist and the late Dwight Dorsett; and a host of family members and friends.
