Obituary

Born in Miami on Tuesday, April 10, 1962, to the late Gloria Yvette Baker and William Edward Baker. She was the fifth child out of eleven children. 
 
Her education started at Poinciana Park Elementary. She received her diploma from Miami Beach High, class of1980, excelling in multiple sports such as basketball, volleyball, and softball to name a few.
 
She began her career with the Miami-Dade Transit Association (MDTA) October 1991, until her retirement in November 2022 with more than 30 years of public service.
 
She was a dedicated election poll-worker for more than 20 years.
 
On May 30, 2024, after a long battle with breast cancer complications, God called her home.

Preceding her death is her mother, Gloria Yvette Baker; father, William E. Baker; brother, Allen B. Benson; and sister, Jacqueline Dawston-Blash. 
 
Loving her and mourning her death are her sons, Jovan Lamar Clarke, Nijai Clarke, and Marcus Rashad Chance; grandchildren, Caleb J. (Chanika) Clarke, Tristan, Jovannah (Astride) Clarke, Meadow (Sonji) Clarke; sisters, Janice Jones, Debra Lewis, Joni James, Judith Baker-Powell (Maurice), Katherine Baker, Andre Baker, and Sonia Baker; and a host of nephews, nieces, family members, friends, colleagues, classmates, who will also mourn her passing.
