Obituary
On October 13, 1961, Cassandra “Sandy” Butler-Robinson was born in Miami, Florida, to Jeanette Sharp and Vernon Harold Butler, Sr.
At a young age, she left Miami and began life in New York with her maternal great-aunt, Roselle Pouncie-Higgs. She attended Samuel J. Tilden High School in Brooklyn, New York. After obtaining her license from a business school in Far Rockaway, New York, she pursued her career as a certified nursing assistant.
Sandy married the love of her life, the late Artie Robinson. They raised two children, Max and Adonis Robinson, together. She was well loved by her family and friends. While Sandy’s family and friends grieve her loss, they will remember her as a gentle soul and someone who lit up the room with her great personality and soft, still voice.
Sandy was a part of the Order of the Eastern Star, Aurelia #724, in Brooklyn, New York, where she served as the Associate Matron and later became the trustee to the treasurer. She was also a part of the Amaranth Court where she held the station as a past Royal Matron.
We fondly remember Sandy for jamming to her old school music where she would sang her heart out and move her body to the beat.
Sandy had a God-fearing heart and served here on Earth as a Christian daily.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Artie Robinson; mother, Jeanette Butler-Gordon; father, Vernon Harold Butler, Sr.; auntie, Roselle Pouncie-Higgs; uncle, Samuel Higgs; and siblings, Patrice Butler Millet (Roy) and Francisca Butler.
Sandy is survived by: her son, Adonis Robinson; siblings, Sheila Butler-Clark, Stephanie Butler-Washington (James), Vernon Harold Butler, Jr., Rosiland Walker (James), Wanda Johnson, Joyce Butler, Constance Butler, Ann Butler, Robert Anthony Higgs, and Zandra Higgs; brother-in-law, Murphy Robinson; sister-in-law, Debbie Robinson; best friend Anna Baskerville and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, extended family members, and beloved friends.
