Obituary
Chaviss “Bumpy” Brownlee was born September 29, 1970, to the late Hymon Brownlee and Patricia Johnson in Miami, Florida. He was raised in Opa-locka, Florida by his maternal grandparents, Lowell and Vera Johnson. He received his education in Dade County public schools. During his childhood, Chaviss dominated the football field. His love for football would continue throughout his life. A fact not known to many was that as a teenager Chaviss starred in an international television commercial due to his ability to whistle at a volume and pitch that could shatter an ear drum. God blessed Chaviss with nine children and seven grandchildren. Chaviss was an outgoing, fun-loving person who enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. He was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. On September 13, 2023, he peacefully transitioned. Chaviss fought a good fight. He was loved by many, but God loved him best. “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1). Chaviss is now resting with his heavenly father. Chaviss was preceded in death by his parents, Hymon Brownlee and Patricia Johnson, and one nephew, Damian Banks, Jr. Left to carry on his legacy and memories are his three siblings, Veranice Smith, Lucretia Brownlee, and Shon Brownlee; six sons, Chaviss Brownlee, Jr., Ike-Keem Brownlee, Patrick Brownlee, Shaquan Brownlee, Santana Brownlee, and H’Chaviss Brownlee; three daughters, Lachavia Brownlee, Tiquanda Robinson, and Diamond Marshall; four stepchildren, TaSheena Saunders, Erianna Campbell, Brianna Reath, and D’Angelo Christian; seven grandchildren, Chaviss Brownlee III, Amirian Brownlee, Zybieon Robinson, Tai’Rhan Alford, Jr., Ike-Keem Brownlee, Jr., Lay’Lani Christian, and Abella Brownlee; one nephew, Tony Ferguson; godmother, Rasey Osburn; and a host of aunts, uncles, and other extended family from Nassau, Bahamas, and friends.
