Obituary

On June 18, 1926, a beautiful spring morning, a beautiful bouncing baby girl was born to the late Shelly and Carrie Robinson. In their joy, they named her Cora Lee.

Cora was an energetic and bright child. She possessed a passion for knowledge and developed a willingness to share whatever she learned in life with her family and friends.

On July 12, 1941, Cora married Lonnie Fleming. To this union, three sons were born: Ernest, Samuel, and Clyde. Cora was a loving and caring mother who always wanted the best for her children. Cora and Lonnie remained happily married until his passing on September 23, 1997.

Cora was always a motivated person and an independent thinker. Throughout her life, she worked to improve her life and the lives of her family. She sought and received employment at a very young age, and she worked for over fifty years, to provide greater opportunity for her family.

Cora had a great sense of humor, a real zest for life, and a genuine love for people. More importantly, she loved the Lord. Whenever you met Cora, she always praised God and encouraged others to do the same. She transferred her membership to Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a member for the past thirty years. Wednesday, June 19, 2024, her heavenly Father called her home. She heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto me and rest, lay down thou weary soul upon my breast.” God decided he needed another prayer warrior in his heavenly church. Cora did not think about it or object by trying to run and hide. She understood that human life is finite, so she entered the heavenly gates with open arms.

Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Fleming; sons, Ernest, and Samuel Fleming; brothers, Leroy and Ashell Robinson; and sister, Emma Lou Seymour.

Cora leaves behind many fun-filled and loving memories that will be cherished by: her son, Clyde Fleming; daughter-in-law, lnel Fleming; grandsons, Anthony, Jonathan (Detra), Eric, and Samuel Fleming; granddaughters, Angela Miller (Michael), April Price (Demetrice), Channel Fleming, Tamica Fleming; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
