Obituary
Courtney Octavias Alston was born to his father, Dennis Alston, and mother, Freenis Thompson, on July 17, 1969, in Miami, Florida.
Courtney accepted Christ at an early age. Courtney received his grade and high school education in Miami, Florida. Courtney attended Crestview Elementary, Lake Stevens Middle School, and graduated from Carol City Senior High School. Courtney also attended Bethune Cookman College and received his associate degree in arts and science. Courtney, also known as “Court,” graduated from Department of Corrections in 1994. He was also a substitute teacher in Miami Dade County public school system. Courtney was employed there for over 20 years. He later was employed with WellPath Correction Facility until his demise.
Courtney loved his family unconditionally. He had a greater love for his nine children. Being a father brought him joy, and he used every opportunity to encourage them to fulfill their goals and dreams. Courtney brought life to any room with his big personality and smile. Court was known as “Big Brother.” He protected everyone around him. Being in his presence was truly an experience, and he left a lasting impression on all those he met.
On February 28, 2014, Courtney was united in holy matrimony to his devoted wife, Tameka Jefferson. To this union, they were blessed with a handsome son, Mekhi Alston.
On July 25, 2023, Courtney was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Alston, and mother, Freenis Thompson, and brother, Asagai Alston, a.k.a. “Gai.”
Courtney is survived by his loving wife, Tameka Alston; children, Ah’Shunti, Ralph D’Reese, Lemont, Sydrell, Cateesa, Lamar, Chyenne, Jeremiah, and Mekhi; devoted stepmother, Elder Paula Alston; siblings, Ebon Miller, Chantrell, Cullpepper, Trara, Jasmine, Ayesha, and Christian; best friends like brothers by love, Edward Fraser, Terrence Kemp, and Omar Hall; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends who will truly miss him dearly.
