Obituary

David Philip was born in Antigua. He was really helpful and exceptionally attentive, beyond anyone you could possibly come across. He was born on March 1, 1940, and was part of a family with eleven siblings. He had a grand total of seven children, whom he held in high regard. Since the age of twelve, he was accustomed to working diligently, and he continued this behavior throughout his formative years. For instance, at the age of 80, he would experience agitation as a result of his inability to modify a closet door. At 83 years old, he would lament his inability to renovate the house because of his strong tendency to personally manage all home-related tasks as a man. After leaving Antigua in the 1960s, he began a new journey in the United States and established himself in Maryland for a number of years. Subsequently, he moved to Miami for work, where he encountered my lovely grandma, Murelda Philip. She would be his beloved for the rest of his existence. They were in a relationship from 1989 until her sad death on March 5, 2024. David and “Miri,” whom he lovingly called her, eloped in 2008. He was a robust, towering African American man who was devoted to his family and went to great lengths to assist others to the best of his abilities. David served as the patriarch of our family. Today, he leaves behind his offspring, which includes his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We express our grief over the passing of David “grandpa” Philip, and today we will honor his life and treasure the memories he has bestowed on us.
