Obituary

Deborah Ann Franklin was born to the union of the late James Franklin and Marjorie Gibson Franklin Cooke on September 15, 1955, in Miami, Florida.

Deborah was a sassy Tomboy with a “no-nonsense” way of doing things but was a very caring and giving person. Her mother, Marjorie, often commented that she had an inner strength like no other and was as strong as an ox.

Deborah loved to laugh. She was gifted with being quick-witted and loved to tease and joke with her family and friends. In her spare time, she was devoted to reading the Holy Bible and meditating on God’s word. Deborah read the Bible from the front cover to the back cover on more than one occasion. When she gave advice to family and friends, it was always rooted in scripture.

If you were in need, and if Deborah had it to give, she would help you. She was very generous and caring in helping her family and friends during tough times.

Deborah was educated in the Dade County School District. She was very friendly and outgoing with a friendly disposition.

She was also a mother of one son, Kentric Elton Franklin, who preceded her in death. Deborah became a member the Bethany Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Miami, Florida, and became an usher.

Later in life, Deborah obtained her CDL license. Deborah joined the Dade County Solid Waste Authority from where she subsequently retired. She found it difficult to remain at home, so she keep herself busy by working part-time at a popular restaurant.

Deborah transitioned this world on January 28, 2024. She leaves to cherish her memory: her three sisters, Trebla B. Cooke, Alfreda Footman, and Denise Cason; aunt, Ardis Gibson Wells (John); cousins, Bernadette Cunningham, Merrill Riou, Elaine Woodson, Mary Woodson, Phillip Belamy, Cedrick Belamy, Alicia Belamy, Michelle Riou, Bonita Riou, Michael Riou, Sonja Wells Woodard, Terrance Dean, Omar Bain, Marc Rahming, Kithia Rahming, Phyllis Gainor, Regina Cunningham, Terry Cunningham, Yorick Cunningham, and Jermaine Cunningham; godbrother, Gary Coachman; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
