Dexter Lamar Washington was the second born son of the late Booker T. Washington and Williemae Washington on January 30, 1958, in Valdosta, Georgia.
Dexter grew up in Miami Gardens and matriculated through the Miami-Dade Public School system. He graduated from The Miami Carol City Senior High School in 1976. Dexter was willing to give you the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was a man who articulated what was on his mind, and you didn’t have to wonder what he was trying to say to you.
As a young man, Dexter worked in his Father’s business, Washington Concrete Services where he learned building and construction skills. He was very handy and assisted family and friends in home repairs, car repairs, and installing security systems. Dexter was the primary caretaker of his mother and navigated his landscaping and lawn service business to a commodate his mother’s healthcare appointments and her needs and continued to do both until his health began to decline.
Dexter gave his life to Christ as a teenager and attended Miami Christian Center in Miami, Florida. Dexter re-dedicated his life to God during the last season of his life.
