Obituary

TIME TO BE BORN…
Dollie Ellis Rountree was born on December 2, 1943, in Live Oak, Florida to the late Carbie Ellis and the late Susie Garvin-Ellis. She was the fourth of eighteen children and was raised in a large Christian household that shaped her strength, resilience, and love for others.

TIME TO BE REMEMBERED…
Dollie was educated in Suwannee County and graduated from Douglas High School in the summer of 1962. Shortly thereafter, she and her sister, Pearllie Ellis Bell, relocated to Miami, Florida, where she resided until she gained her wings.

In 1963, Dollie met Jimmy Woody while working at the Shrimp Factory. Their friendship blossomed into marriage, and from that union one daughter was born, Robin Elaine Woody. Dollie also raised Annette Bain, as a daughter. In addition to being a devoted mother, she helped raise her granddaughter, Travia, alongside her daughter.

Dollie dedicated 35 years of faithful service to Dade County Public Schools, where she built a respected career in the cafeteria division. Through dedication and hard work, she advanced through the ranks and retired in 2005 as Cafeteria Manager of Olinda Elementary School. She thoroughly enjoyed her retirement until her passing.

Affectionately known as “Doll,” she earned this nickname because she was always meticulous about her appearance and took pride in how she presented herself. Dollie enjoyed watching football and basketball, as well as dining at her favorite restaurant, Rustic Inn, where she especially enjoyed a good crab dish.

She was a devoted member of St. Matthews Freewill Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in several ministries including the choir, decoration chair, church sexton, Chief Usher Board #2, and later as a deaconess.

TIME TO DEPART…
On January 27, 2026, the Lord picked a beautiful flower from His garden. “Well done, my child, good and faithful servant.” Although Dollie’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. Her light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.

TIME TO MOURN…
Dollie was preceded in death by her parents, Carbie and Susie Ellis, and five siblings: Al, Rudolph, Carl, Norman, and Loraine.

She leaves loving memories to be cherished by:
Children: Robin (Ed) Foster
