Obituary
Dora Victoria James Levy was born on February 10, 1941, in Roatan, Honduras, to Doly Ralf and Louise Beckford Brooks, one of 13 children.
Dora, or mommy, grammy, Tia, Ms. Dora—whichever she was called, was known as a beautiful Christian woman. Powerful in prayer and strong in faith Dora lived for the Lord first and then she lived for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. Dora worked in the medical field for many years in Miami, Florida, and Boston Massachusetts, before retiring.
Dora married John Levy on November 16, 1964. Together they share eight children: Henry, Terry, Winnie, Ernie, Joel, John, Linda, and Merna. Dora truly embraced motherhood and dedicated herself to giving her children a better life. Dora shared her love with everyone that she came in contact with; she was always willing to be a stronghold for kids in her neighborhood in Miami and Honduras. Dora was an expert seamstress; she loved sewing and making clothes for her kids. She also enjoyed crocheting and making blankets for all her grandkids and great-grandkids. Passing on the gift of knowledge, strength, and the power of prayer to her children and family, Dora can be remembered as one of the best cooks on the island of Honduras.
On September 17, 2025, Dora was called home to be with her Heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Levy, Sr.; son, Joel Levy; and brothers, Edwardo Brooks, Norris Jackson, Ethel Beckford James, Richard Brooks, and Edgar Albert Brooks.
Dora leaves to mourn: her seven children, Henry, Terry, Winnie, Ernie, John Jr., Linda, and Merna; 22 grandkids and her loving great-grandkids; siblings, Arturo, Annette, Adela, Angelica, and Thomas; niece, Williemay Randleston; and a host of other family and friends that will truly miss her. Until we meet again...
