Obituary
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1
On January 4, 2026, God, in His infinite wisdom, called His beloved daughter, Dr. Windy Denise Ballard, to take her eternal rest in the beautiful garden of Heaven.
Dr. Windy Ballard was born on August 28, 1977, in Miami, Florida, to Geneva Ballard and the late James Smalls. From an early age, Windy displayed a radiant spirit, a compassionate heart, and a determination to live a life filled with purpose. Her presence illuminated every room she entered, and her love left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
Windy received her early education at Poinciana Park Elementary School, Hialeah Middle School, and Hialeah High School. Upon graduating from Hialeah High School, she pursued higher education at Miami Dade Community College, continued her studies at Nova Southeastern University, and ultimately fulfilled her lifelong dream by earning her Doctorate degree from Florida Atlantic University.
Windy was the proud and devoted mother of one son, Jaiden Henry, the joy and center of her life. Motherhood was one of her greatest callings. She poured her heart into raising Jaiden, instilling in him the values of faith, confidence, perseverance, and excellence. Windy was deeply involved in his personal growth and athletic pursuits, constantly encouraging him with words she lived by: “Never stop believing in yourself. If you can think it, you can achieve it.” Through her own educational accomplishments, she modeled the importance of learning, discipline, and purpose.
Professionally, Dr. Ballard wore many hats with grace and excellence. She served as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a Registered Nurse, and later achieved elite status within the medical profession by earning her Doctorate. Her dedication, commitment, and professionalism were evident during her service in the Oncology Department at the Cleveland Clinic, where her compassion touched countless lives. She continued her passion for service and education as a Professor at Florida Atlantic University, inspiring, mentoring, and shaping future generations.
Though Windy loved her career, her life was firmly grounded in her faith in God. A devoted woman of faith, she was a faithful member of The Way of Holiness Church, where she served under the apostolic leadership of Apostle Dr. Geraldine Whittaker.
Dr. Windy Ballard will be deeply missed for her beautiful smile, infectious laughter, funky dance moves, and her unique ability to make everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. Though she is no longer physically present, her spirit, wisdom, and love will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Dr. Windy Ballard was preceded in death by her father, James Smalls.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her beloved son, Jaiden Henry; her devoted mother, Geneva Ballard; her loving and supportive stepfather, Hilton McZeke; her beloved significant other, Marcus Bodie; three loving sisters, Sharon Ballard, Tammy Ballard(Junior Joseph) and Shretta Casseus, all of Miami; two brothers, Frederick Smalls (Dian smalls) of Georgia and Anthony Wells of Miami; her cherished God-sister, Barbara Johnson; four loving aunts, Rosa Ann Ballard of South Carolina, Ethel King of South Carolina, Chaverna Smalls from New York, and Shirley Smalls of Miami; her uncles, Hampton Ballard of South Carolina and Frederick Smalls of Miami; her beloved nephews, Cornelius Ballard (Jennifer Ballard), Jakari Wilson, Josiah Joseph, Jayden Wilbur, Jace Ballard and Carson Ballard, and her cherished nieces, Mia Ballard, Kendal Branch, Sarai Smalls, and Jaelyn Wilbur; her devoted best friends, Valerie Michel and Theresa Johnson; Two God children Jy’tavia Walkine and Jeremiah Johnson and a host of cousins, extended family members, colleagues, and dear friends.
Like butterflies and roses, Dr. Windy Ballard’s love and legacy remain beautiful and everlasting.
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
