Obituary

Eleanora Elizabeth Armstrong Harris was born on December 7, 1952, in Cordele, Georgia, to her loving parents, Mary Alice Armstrong-Jones and Loren “Buster” Harris.

Eleanora received her education from the Miami Dade County public schools, where she was apart of the Miami Jackson Senior High School class of 1970. As a young adult, she relocated to Jersey City, New Jersey. During that time, she welcomed two children, Tera Nicole Armstrong and Darien Lemure Armstrong. In 1977, she moved back to Miami, Florida, to be closer to her family, where she welcomed another baby girl, Qiana Channelle Armstrong. Not long after, Eleanora married William “Bill” Harris.

Eleanora dreamed of becoming a secretary. She pursued her career at the Miami Dade County, where she worked at Poinciana Park Elementary in Miami, Florida, for 28 of her over 30-year tenure with the school board. She was committed to helping her colleagues, parents, and especially the students who attended her school. With firm affection, she earned admiration and became like a second mom to many.

She was a member of the United Teachers of Dade and a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars, Queen Bathsheba #793.

Eleanora, affectionately known as “Mrs. Harris,” embodied style, sophistication, and intellect and was never one to shy away from expressing herself. As a caring mother and a warm friend, she generously offered support wherever it was needed. With a love for music spanning generations, a passion for reading, and a knack for dancing, she lived life to the fullest.

On Wednesday afternoon, January 10, 2024, our Heavenly Father relieved Eleanora of her earthly struggles as she transitioned peacefully to be with the Lord. She left this earthly life to live healthy in eternal peace with her Father in Heaven.

Eleanora was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Harris; daughter, Tera Nicole “Nikki” Armstrong; parents, Mary Alice Armstrong-Jones and Loren “Buster” Harris; and siblings, Christabell Johnson and Anthony “Fatboy” Armstrong.

Eleanora leaves to cherish loving memories with her children, Darien Armstrong (Tequila) and Qiana Armstrong; grandchildren, Marlene Brooks, Dejah Law, Markila Brooks, Martisha Brooks, Darren Armstrong, Demetri Armstrong, and Seth Pope; siblings, Judene Allen, Geraldine Armstrong, Parish Rome (Uncle Bug), and Jeffery Jones; nieces, Tomenia, Trenese, Kiwi, Nina, Tarolyn, Kiamesha, and Tonisha (Rodney); nephews, Kenneth and Dallas; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
