Obituary

Eloise Nelson was born on December 23, 1947, in Shubuta, Mississippi, to the late Orange Sr. and Maggy Nelson. She received her education in the Clarke County, Mississippi, school system, attending Quitman High School. At an early age, Eloise moved to Hialeah, Florida, where she secured a job working for Security Alumni Windows and Doors for twenty-five years. Soon after, she would own and operate her own daycare center, working with children for many years.

Eloise gave her life to Christ and joined New Mount Zion Baptist Church. She served on the usher board for many years and was always active in the church, working with the youth and putting together many different programs. She would then serve as a deaconess under the leadership of Pastor Bernard Anderson until her passing on August 12, 2024.

Eloise loved her family and friends. She always made it her priority to spend time with them. She enjoyed attending church when she was in good health. She liked to sing, dance, sew, and cook, and she was always willing to help others, no matter who you were. She will truly be missed.

Eloise was preceded in death by her brother, Orange Nelson, Jr.; son, Colenn Nelson; grandson, Cedrick Johnson; and grandson, Zeidrick Johnson.

Eloise leaves to cherish her memories: her two daughters, Rhondetta (Lesly) Duvillaire and Tisha Johnson; son, Corey Johnson; three brothers of Shubuta, MS, Marshall, Louis, and Raymond Nelson; one sister, Jacqueline Nelson; grandchildren, Shymeka Johnson, Zsazsa (Dave) Johnson Darbouze, Keidrick Johnson, Shaquoria (Kelvin) Kirksey, Corey Johnson, Jr., Daisha Brownlee, and Jayon Rasbin; great-grandchildren, Jaysen Bowan, Zavion, Da’Nya, and Zariayna Darbouze, Kenslee, Rylee, Janiya, Alana, and Zya Johnson, Za’niyah, Elijah, and Eva Brownlee; nieces, Celidoore Nelson, Quateka and Tyesha Nelson, and Porsha Guerrero; nephew, Zahcarey Gall; special family friends, Paul McPhee, Willie C. Schack, Karen Council, and Belinda Payne; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
