Obituary
A Time To Be Born
Harold Kent Brown, Sr., was born on September 14, 1947, to the late Edward Moore and Yvonne Brown. He attended school at the Miami Dade County public school system and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School where he was a quarterback on the varsity football team. He continued his education at Bethune Cookman College where he graduated, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. While there, he joined the Brotherhood of the Omicron Epsilon Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., in December of 1968.
A Time To Love
In 1970, he met and married Lillie Jones. Their union resulted in the creation of two beautiful children, Harold Jr. and Kerry. They were married for 53 years.
A Time To Serve
At a young age, he was confirmed and faithfully served as an acolyte for many years. He later moved his membership to Church of the Incarnation in Miami, Florida. Because he believed in serving his community, in 1989 he decided to join St. Arthur’s Masonic Lodge #488. The desire to do more led him to join Kazah Temple #149 PHA in 2008. During his service, he received an Honorary Past Illustrious Potentate in August of 2016.
A Time To Plant
Harold was employed by Miami Dade County public schools as a Science and Math teacher for three years. As better opportunities arose, he sought employment with the Federal Government as a Quality Assurance Specialist. After 33 years of employment with the Federal Government, he retired. Harold spent much of his time enjoying life. The greatest highlight of his life was spending time with his grandchildren.
A Time To Rest
On Tuesday morning, October 17, 2023, God called Harold’s name, and he answered the call. In addition to his parents preceding him in death, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Rick Moore.
Harold leaves to mourn his memory: his loving wife, Lillie Brown; sons, Harold Jr. and C. Devin (Kimberly) of Orlando, Florida; daughters, Kerry (Keith) and Althea; eleven grandchildren, Andre’, Triniece, Kevin, Kiarah, Lille, Kennedy, Kenneth, Kiersten, Madison, Parker, and Nicholas; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jessie (Anthony) and Lori (Kenneth); one brother, Mark; two sisters-in-law, Connie (Dennis) and Debra of Smiths Station, Alabama; two brothers-in-law, Jessie and James Jones of Smiths Station, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
