Obituary
Mrs. Hattie Rebecca Revels was born on March 18, 1941, in Augusta, Georgia, to the late Mrs. Essie Hogan-Woodall and the late Mr. Charley Woodall. She was one of six siblings—four sisters and two brothers—born to this union.
After a lengthy journey with illness, Mrs. Revels peacefully departed this life on August 19, 2025. She was united in marriage to Mr. Hayward Revels, and together they shared 41 years of love and commitment until his passing, leaving him now a devoted widower.
Mrs. Revels was a proud and loving mother. She was preceded in death by two of her children, and she leaves behind to cherish her memory: three adult children, daughter, Mrs. Linda Revels (Maynor) of Miami, Florida and New York, along with her son-in-law, Mr. Joe Maynor III; son, Andrew Revels of New York and Miami, Florida; and son, Arnold Revels of New York, currently residing in Georgia. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Educated through high school, Mrs. Revels built a rewarding career as a cosmetologist. She was gifted with her hands, her artistry, and her warm spirit, which she shared not only with her clients but also with her family and friends.
Faith was an important part of her life. She was a Christian woman who once studied with Jehovah’s Witnesses, always seeking spiritual growth and a deeper connection with God.
Mrs. Revels found her greatest joy in family. She enjoyed spending quality time with loved ones, especially during the holidays. She had a passion for cooking and was well known for her cakes and desserts, which became a centerpiece of family gatherings.
To all who knew her, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, and friend. She will be remembered for her love, her warmth, her strength, and the joy she brought into the lives of so many.
Her presence will be wholly missed, but her love and legacy will continue to live on. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Robyn Revels-Thomas, who passed February 2007; son, Derrell Revels, who passed November 1995; and husband, Mr. Hayward Revels, who passed August 2007.
She leaves behind: her grandchildren, Yolanda Robertson, Chanell Lewis, Cornell Lewis, Jr., Angela Revels-Rozier, Joe M. Maynor IV, Noesha Thomas, Amber Thomas, and Joeniya K. Maynor; great-grandchildren, Jasmine Sairras, Da’Vonya Robertson, DaVon Robertson, Jr., Jahliyah Lewis, Santana Brown, and Willow Brooklyn Brown; and her niece, Charlene from New York.
