Obituary
Helen Taylor was born on July 30, 1937, in Pelham, Georgia, to the late Elijah and Beatrice Stovall. She was educated in the local school system and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1955.
In 1957, Helen began her career at Mount Sinai Hospital as a tray girl. Through dedication, hard work, and a genuine passion for caring for others, she rose to the position of dietary supervisor, a role she held with pride until her retirement after 40 years of faithful service. Her work was more than a job-it was a calling she fulfilled with grace and commitment.
In 1965, Helen married the late Alvin Taylor, and together they built a loving home, raising six children. She was known for her kind and gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and her joy of traveling and experiencing life.
On June 10, 2026, Helen peacefully transitioned as God called her home, whispering, “Come with me; your time here is done.”
She leaves to cherish her memory five beloved children, James Taylor, Kathi Taylor, Joyce Taylor-Burke, Alvin Taylor, Jr., and Phylescia Sawyer. She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren, Larry, Corey, Tiffany, Asheli, Lionel, Chiquita, Kevin, Charmaine, Alvin III, and Christian; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Helen is also survived by her loving sister, Penny Doggett; in-laws, Franklin Taylor (Mary), Ruby Clemons, and Jeroline Major; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors, and many dear friends. She shared a special bond with her devoted friend, Ann Burley.
Helen Taylor will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the love she poured into everyone around her. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
