Obituary
Hortense Hargrove, also known as “Hardy”, was born to the late Minnie Ella Hayes and James Hargrove on February 4, 1940, in Tallahassee, Florida.
Hortense Hargrove accepted Christ at an early age, and while living in Tallahassee, Florida during her teenaged years, she attended Mt. Pisgah African Methodist Episcopal Church.
She was educated in the Leon County public school system and graduated from Lincoln High School. Hortense Hargrove had a talent for doing natural hair during her younger years.
Hortense Hargrove was employed with Walgreens Drug Store and retired after 30 years of service.
Her greatest joys were being a mother, grandmother, and helping hand to those in need.
In the evening hours of Friday, November 24, 2023, God saw fit to pick one of his most beautiful roses.
Hortense leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Sharon Hargrove (Jarraid) of Miami, Florida; grandson, Michael Hargrove, Sr., of Miami, Florida; daughter-in-law, Michelle Hargrove of Miami, Florida; great-grandson, Kamari Knowles of Miami, Florida; great-granddaughter, Armani Salley of Miami, Florida; great-granddaughter, Janise Sharon Hargrove of Miami, Florida; great-grandson, Michael Hargrove, Jr., of Miami, Florida; aunt, Pinky B. Vickers of Tallahassee, Florida; brother, Willie Hargrove of Miami, Florida; sister-in-law, Irne Hargrove of Miami, Florida; niece, Jean Hargrove of Douglasville, Georgia; sister, the late Inez Moten; and a host of other close family and friends.
