Obituary

Sunrise--
 
James D. Pasely born September 5, 1950, in Woodbine, GA to the late Willie Ann Pasley (Big Ma), Artie M. Pasely and Boston D. Pasely.
 
His education in Miami-Dade County graduated in 1969 from Miami Northwestern Senior High School. Graduated from Florida Agricultural Mechanical University (FAMU). Earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology. Afterwards earned a Master of Science degree in Education from Nova University in 1990.
 
After several years of working in social services for various organizations, he transitioned to an educator for Miami Dade County Public Schools, teaching at Hialeah Senior High School where he retired in 1995.
 
Love and marriage are a blessing from God above. A beautiful union was formed on November 25, 1983. James married the love of his life, Lena Overstreet. From this nuptial, Thajuana and James Jr. Cupit's arrow for James and Lena marriage lasted 41 years.
 
Serving God was the center of James' heart. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church in Miami, FL from childhood. Youth choir, Men choir, etc.
 
James was an avid and dedicated member of the Order of the Free and Accepted Masonic organization, Pride of Hialeah No. 610. He served as a Most Worshipful Master. Through community organizations, he was youth coaching football and various other activities.

James was preceded in death by his mothers, Willie Ann Pasley (Big Ma) and Artie M. Pasely; father, Boston D. Pasely-- brothers; Ollie Crum, William Short, Josh L. Painter, and Gregory L. Crum-sisters; Jo-Ann Jordan, A. Maria Pasely; and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
 
October 29, 2025, He answered Gabrielle' trumpet.
 
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Lena Anne Overstreet Pasely; daughter, Thajuana Pasely; son, James Jr.; brothers, Herman Short, Boston Crum (Easter), Joseph Giles (Dieula), and Julien Jones; sisters, Verdelle Payne, Rose Mary Reed and Debbie Bowe; uncle, Franklin Parish; grandchildren, Ronnie Forest Jr, Louisa Robertson, Lashima Robertson Davis, and Charzetta Johnson Harris (Collie); great-grandchildren, Dorrionni Forest, Adrian Robertson, Amaya Davis, Lorenzo Johnson, Royal Shoumon, Princess Shoumon, and Kalani Woods; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, family, and friends.
