Obituary

On Wednesday, July 11, 1962, in Miami, Florida a handsome baby boy was born to the parents of Mr. James Jackson Woody, Sr. and Mrs. Beulah Grey Woody. They named him James Jackson Woody, Jr.

James was affectionately known to his family and friends as “Nundy” or “Nunie.” His formative years were shaped in The Miami-Dade County Public School System (formerly DCPS), where he developed the values and work ethics that guided him throughout his life.

As a teenager, James met and fell for the beautiful, Tangela “Tammy” Adams. Through their forty-six year union and subsequent marriage, they were blessed with one daughter and three sons.

James dedicated 30+ years of honorable service as an employee of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, where he worked, arduously and honorably, as a lead custodian. He was a loving family man, who took great pride in caring for and supporting his family

During his downtime James enjoyed working on cars while teaching others to do likewise, selflessly. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren taking them to the store and letting them pick out snacks, while he lovingly told them jokes to make them laugh.

His presence on Earth will be deeply missed. He reunites with his loved ones who preceded him in death: His parents (James, Sr. and Beulah), son (Deron), sister (Gloria) and brother (Reginald).

Endearing and cherished memories are etched in the hearts of his loving and devoted Wife: Tangela; Daughter: Elethia (known as “E”); Sons: Javares, Sr. (Daphney) and Kevin Sr (Raven); Grandchildren: Deondra, Deonza, Deviona, Javares, Jr, Kevin Jr, De’Ron, Javon, Taylor, Alina, Ava, and Lyla; Great-Grandson: Michael, Jr.; Brother: Darren; Sisters: Mary Alice, Connie, Ernestine (Ryan), Patricia and Shaun (Joseph); Aunts: Mildred, Elizabeth (Hosa), Castilla (Paul), and Rosa Mae; Uncles: Elijah (Ethel) and Vernell (Viola); Sisters-in-Law: Charlie Mae, Barbara (Greg), and Gail; As well as a host of Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and Friends.
