Obituary
James Luther Ferrell, affectionately known as “Bill,” was born on December 27, 1953, in LaGrange, Georgia, to the late Irene Hanes-Ferrell and the late Willie Frank Ferrell.
James lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and deep love for family.
From a young age, James shared a special bond with his father’s brother, his uncle, Howard, lovingly known as “Baybay.” Close in age, the two grew up together like brothers, forming a lifelong connection that le a lasting imprint on James’s heart. During his childhood and adolescence, James developed a strong passion for sports. He excelled in basketball, football, and baseball, earning numerous accolades and acknowledgments for his athletic abilities.
He received his education through the Troup County school system.
As a young adult, James’s journey took him beyond Georgia. He traveled to Atlanta and Ohio before ultimately settling in Miami, Florida. While in Miami, he attended Florida Memorial College where he pursued a degree in Business Administration. roughout his life, James was known as a hardworking and determined man. He worked in brick masonry and construction and later became a proud business owner, operating his own lawn maintenance company—work he took great pride in and was well known for.
James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willie Frank, Onis, and Larry K. Ferrell; and sisters, Cheryl and Barbara Ferrell.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving siblings—sister, Geneva of Clarkson, Georgia, and brother, Joseph Ferrell of Houston, Texas. He also leaves behind his beloved children—four sons, Christopher, James II, Leon, and Jeremy, and one daughter, Jamesa—along with a host of 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grands, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends who will forever remember his strength, determination, and love.
James Luther Ferrell’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, the family he loved deeply, and the example of perseverance and dedication he set throughout his life. He will be truly missed and fondly remembered.
