Obituary
JAMES SIMEON COMBS, was born on October 8, 1962, to Mr. James “Clifford” Combs and Claudette F. Miller, the firstborn of five children. As a child, James’ keenness for compassion and care was manifested in assisting his family in the caregiving of his father and younger siblings. He attended Miami Central Senior High School, class of 1981. As a teenager, his first employer was McDonald’s as a cashier, shift leader, shift manager, and then earning his way to Store Manager by the age 21. Later, James started his career in the field of public service for the City of Hollywood and the City of Miami Shores for the department of Solid Waste. He later furthered his career and experience becoming a Senior Roll-off Driver and Trainer for Waste Management Corporation .
James was always the socialite in every avenue of his life, he brought laughter and joy to all those around him. He was an active participant in the Little River Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous Clubhouse, leading the charge in fund raiser, dances, sobriety birthday celebrations, and Spade Tournaments. His years of service and commitment paved way for him to be appointed as a Board Member for Little River Club House. James also was a brother of the Sons of King James #11, under the grand lodge of King James Supreme Grand Lodge. He began as an Entered Apprentice Mason 1st Degree, then was raised to 2nd Degree, and then raised to Sublime 3rd Degree Mason, which is the highest degree of which a Mason can obtain.
Above all his social and life accomplishments, James was most proud of his walk with Christ. James’ faith was his deliverance and favorite pastime. James came to know the Lord and started his faith with Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ in Opa-locka and continued through during his time at the Miami Rescue Mission were he learned the importance of outreach ministry. His service for the Lord continued as he joined Truth Missionary Baptist. In 2005, it was there that James committed to the principle of 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth,” and was licensed as a minister. In 2010, he transferred membership to be under his most recent spiritual leadership, Pastor Larry Robbins, where, through stewardship and teaching, he served as Associate Pastor. James continued his love and passion for outreach ministry, ministering at Miami Rescue Mission, Chapman Partnership for Life, Little River Club House, and even advocated for a partnership with his employer, Waste Management Corporation, to donate essentials for communities in need.
James was preceded in death by his father, James Clifford Combs; siblings, Ellis Combs and Ann. F. Combs; and nephew, Junorris Combs.
