Obituary
Our hearts are filled with both sadness and gratitude as we celebrate the life of Jerelene Bodiford, who entered eternal rest on November 30, 2025. She was a loving mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, and friend whose presence shaped generations.
Jerelene was born on June 21, 1938, in Greenville, Alabama, to Willie and Lena Brown. The seventh of eight children. She
is proceeded in death by (Willie, Frank, Grady, Sarah and Rosie Mae) she leaves to cherish her memory Gladys Hill and Elmer Brown. She learned early the value of strength, family, and faith. She accepted Christ at a young age and carried His teachings with her throughout her life.
Jerelene began building the family she adored. She had two children with Johnnie Ray Bodiford, Juantonja Mobley and Johnnie Ray Bodiford, Jr.
After moving to Miami, Florida, She later welcomed three children with John Wayne Barber, Christopher Barber, Cindy Barber, and Selena Barber.
A proud and determined woman, Jerelene earned her college associate degree along with several certifications. She devoted many years to serving her community through her work at Hialeah Hospital and the DCF Crisis Nursery, where her compassion, dedication, and gentle heart touched countless lives.
Jerelene had a gift for nurturing others. She cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with unwavering love, always opening her home and heart to them. She was the family’s quiet protector—honest, outspoken when needed, yet the keeper of everyone’s secrets.
Her home was surrounded by the flowers she lovingly tended. Gardening brought her joy, peace, and a sense of purpose, and she filled every space with beauty and life.
She leaves to honor her memory her children; grandchildren, Nikeya Bodiford, Umeka Bass, Krystal Nunnally, Brittany and Brandon Mobley, Moris Lugo, Darius Baruer, Amari Atkins, Terrell Bodiford, Reagan Wallace, Mkala, Janae, Christian, Nathan, Der’Ray Barber, and Brian Burke; greatgrandchildren, Braylyn Williams, Taylor Stewart, Kamron Phillips, Rasha Forbes, Morgan Lugo, and Moriah Lugo; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will forever cherish her warmth, wisdom, and love.
Jerelene lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and a heart that never stopped giving. Though we will miss her dearly,
her spirit will continue to guide us, comfort us, and live on through every generation she touched.
Rest in love, Jerelene. Your legacy lives forever.
