Obituary
Johnny James Adkins was born July 8, 1965, in Miami, Florida, to the late Janie Mae Atkins.
John lived his childhood in Homestead, Florida, and received his education through Miami-Dade public schools. He was very athletic and participated in most sports. John took interest in boxing. He was so great, he traveled to Bogata, Colombia, for a boxing match. John was fun to be around. He was always willing to give a helping hand. He loved his family and most of all, his coffee. He was also known as “tree top” because of his height, and he was also very handsome. John later relocated to Miami, and although he lived a challenging life, he never let the obstacles and struggles he endured let him down. On January 2, 2024, God called John home.
He had one sister, Carla Thomas, who preceded him in death.
In his passing, he leaves to cherish his loving memory: his father, Johnny James (Rosa James); daughter, Shanna Neal; sisters, Bernice Lloyd (Curtis Lloyd), Lizz Williams (Fred Williams), Shanty Lockett, Regina Thomas, and Sabrina Atkins; stepbrothers and sister, Sharon Lockett, Anthony Lockett (Lyda Lockett), and Todd Lockett; John also leaves his memory with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
