Obituary
Johnny Lee Melton, born as Johnny Vixama on December 24, 1989, was embraced by the Melton family at the tender age of two. He was later adopted by the late Wilbert and Rosetta Melton, who provided him with a warm, loving, and nurturing home. Their love and support shaped Johnny into the kind-hearted, dependable, and generous man that so many came to know and love.
Johnny received his education at Madison Middle School and went on to Miami Central Senior High School. His deep faith and spiritual commitment were evident throughout his life, as a devoted member of Miami Bethany Seventh-day Adventist Church. Even when illness made it difficult to attend in person, Johnny faithfully worshipped virtually each Sabbath, holding fast to his love for God’s word.
Throughout his life, Johnny worked in various roles, but it was in the kitchen where his passion truly came alive. Becoming a cook was more than a job, it was a calling. He recently achieved a significant milestone by graduating from a culinary course, a goal he had long aspired to accomplish.
Johnny was a man who found joy in the simple things; quality time with family, cheering on his favorite sports teams, traveling, music, and connecting with friends. His unwavering support, kindness, and willingness to help others defined him. Whether offering a listening ear or a helping hand, Johnny gave of himself freely and without hesitation. His heart was open, and in return, he was blessed with immense love from those around him.
Johnny took his final breath peacefully at home in Miami, Florida on Sunday, March 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of those who cherished him most. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and faith; a life that touched many and a spirit that will never be forgotten.
Johnny is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Ja’Niyra Jacobs, and his siblings: Darian Melton (2/16/1966–5/10/2014), Valerie Melton (James Lawhorn), Michael Melton, Keith Melton, Eric Rodman, Nikya Garland, Matthew Garland, and Shauntavia Melton (Joshua Bunyan). He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish the memories they have shared with him.
