Obituary

Jonathan Thompson, Jr., was born on November 20, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Martha Thompson and Jonathan Thompson, Sr.

Jonathan attended and graduated from John Marshall Harlen Sr. High School, then proceeded to Prairie View, Texas A&M. While attending, he received a scholarship in Track. Shortly after that, he became a well known DJ in Chicago and also worked at the airport. 

Jonathan gave his life to Christ in 2006 and attended St. Louis Ministry. Later, he went on to El Paso, Texas, Ministry and then came to Miami Power House Church, where he continued to stay and build God’s kingdom. He was also the Director of the Men’s Home. He was then ordained as the Assistant Pastor. He was a loving, supportive brother and was well known on the South Side. 

Jonathan and Norma fell in love at first sight. They united as one in Christ in 2013 and continued to build God’s Ministry till the Lord called him home. 

On July 8, 2023, Jonathan departed this life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Woods Thompson and Jonathan Thompson, Jr.

He leaves behind: his wife, Norma Jean Thompson; daughter, Jennifer Spearman; stepchildren, Jenisian Nicole Hanks (Bruce Hanks), Darryl Dewayne Walker, Jr., and Darron Wayne Walker; three grandchildren; siblings, Michael Jones, Daniel Thompson, Jeffery Thomspon (Jocelyn Thompson), Chauncey Thompson, Marsha Woods, Marla London, Sheryl Thompson, and Toya Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.
