Obituary
Karen Lenora Henderson was born on February 21, 1954, in Miami, Florida, to the proud union of Herman and Edna Henderson, both of whom preceded her in death. “Nora,” as she was affectionately called, was the third of six children. Two sisters, Paula Henderson and Gwendolyn “Granny” Williams, preceded her in death. She received her education in the Miami Dade County public school system and was a proud Miami Northwestern Senior High School BULL.
Nora lived most of her life in Miami and became a mother of three girls, Lashaun, Chiquita, and Shenea. She loved and cherished her girls. Everywhere Nora traveled, she made sure her girls were with her.
In the late 1980s, Nora became an Early Childhood Teacher. Her love for children was priceless. She started at Cook’s Kindergarten and later worked for FCAA (Family Christian Association of America). There, she spent numerous years teaching and watching the kids grow. Her excitement came once they grew older and came back to see her still doing what she loved most, TEACHING. After teaching, she then worked for Pinecrest Rehabilitation Center. A short while later, she then retired. In 2020, she ventured out and relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. It was a short stay of two and a half years as she missed and returned home to Miami, Florida.
In May of 2025, Nora’s life changed forever. She became very ill and put up a great fight. On August 28, 2025, God saw fit to pluck his rose that had blossomed so beautifully.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories: her three daughters, Lashaun Henderson, Chiquita Carter, and Shenea Haddock; fiancé, Luc LaFrance; two sisters, Gloria Rogers and Dorothy Wells (Gregory); brother, Herman Henderson; ten grandchildren, Darcell Carter-Strawder (Calvin), Marshaun West, Jr., Dequan Henderson, Carlos Caminero II (Chaunte), Garrett Henderson, Chanelle Watts, Denerick Carter, Deverick Carter, Andre Williams, and Bryan Patton; two nieces, Tiaria Rogers and Jamieka Rogers-Lee (Elijah); two nephews, Tarrance Williams (Lynette) and Earl Brown (Keithra); fifteen great-grandchildren, Leondra, Leon, Leondre and Leonte Strawder, Shauntravia and Makayla West, Starlynn and Skylnn Clemons, Gabriel and Luna Caminero, Taylor, Heaven, and Starr Harris, and Pryncess and Prynce Williams; bonus son, Anthony Roundtree; and a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and other family members and close friends.
