Obituary

Karen Renee Hawkins Hoard was born July 4, 1956 in Key West Florida to the late Nathaniel Hawkins Junior and Copelyn Carey Hawkins. Karen completed her high school education at Key West High School graduating in 1974. During her time in high school Karen was a three-year member of the Key West varsity cheerleading team. After leaving Key West Karen relocated to Miami, Florida, met and fell in love with the late Harold Hoard Junior. The two married October 1991. They then welcomed a Baby boy Harold Hoard III who was the light of their life. The two shared 26 beautiful years together before his untimely death.

Karen attended Miami Dade College receiving her AA in Nursing. She went on to work at a nursing home Villa Maria for several years before ending her nursing career at Miami VA Medical Center. Dedicating more than a decade of love and devotion to our veterans. Karen took an early retirement in 2018 after the passing of her late husband. Karen then fell on some tough years ahead alongside many health issues. In 2022 Karen found the beauty of God's everlasting grace and Mercy with the help of Sally and Andre Brown. Karen made it her life mission from that moment forward to live the upcoming remaining years, faithful to God. Along the way, she has met dozens of friends, some who've become family.

Karen was called home Monday afternoon, February 2, 2026 surrounded by family. She is predeceased by her husband Harold hoard, her sister Bridgette Hawkins and her brother Terrell Hawkins. Karen leaves to cherish her memories, her loving son Harold (Demountria) of Miami Florida. Her brother, Nathaniel Hawkins of Kansas City, Missouri and Lavon Hawkins of Atlanta, ga. Granddaughters, who were her absolute pride and joy Aubrey and Ava-Rene. And in the end long time childhood friend and love Melvin Roberts alongside the Roberts family. Cousins Andre, Sally, Victoria, Copie, John Carey, and Curtis Brown. Special lifelong friend Wanda Yabor. Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of sorrowing friends and neighbors.

Karen touched the lives of many and brighten the days to everyone she came in contact with. Her magnetic energy and unwavering hospitality will never go unnoticed. She will be constantly thought of and deeply missed.
