Obituary

The Homegoing Celebration of the Life and Legacy of
Bishop Karl R. Gayle
Genesis 2:7 “And God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (KJV)
God, the giver of life, breathed the breath of life into Karl Roy Gayle and he came forth from his mother’s womb on June 15, 1953, in Kingston, Jamaica. It was a joyous occasion for his parents, Rupert and Joyce Gayle.
Navigating life in the United Kingdom (England), Karl graduated from high school. Immediately thereafter. He and his parents immigrated to the United States. In the State of New York, he graduated from college with a B.A. in Communications and M.A. in Journalism. Combining his academic achievements with additional training in the field of broadcasting proved to be most productive for Karl. These combined experiences catapulted Karl into the field of broadcasting. He excelled in both radio broadcasting as sell as television news broadcasting. He gained numerous achievements, accomplishments, and awards in the broadcasting field. Still, in Karl’s heart he realized that with all of the success, something most important was missing. He began to seek God. “But whatever gain I had, I counted it loss for the sake of Christ” (Philippians 3:7, ESV).
Karl has stated on many occasions that he counted April 20, 1980 as the most important day of his life and the beginning of true life milestones. On April 20, 1980, Karl accepted Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Son of God, as his Savior and Lord. He also received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. “You must be born again.” “Repent…receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (John 3:7, Acts 3:38, KJV)! Karl further described the decade of the 1980’s as the pinnacle of his life. In this decade he became a true Christian, believing in Christ with all his heart. In this decade he married his covenant wife, Angel. In this decade Karl and Angel were blessed to become the parents of their son, Brandon. On many occasions Karl gratefully declared that the decade of 1980’s was the “trinity of milestones” in his life: 1) One God; 2) One wife, and 3) One son.
Progressing to the decade of the 1990’s, Karl and his covenant wife, Angel, were ordained as ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ, beginning as deacon/deaconess. Each ordination, over the years by God and the church leaderships, has recognized the God-ordained, Aquila-Priscilla biblical example in the ministry (Acts 18:2). The six passages in the Bible where Aquila and Priscilla are named, they are always named together. Karl and Angel, always worked together in agape love, unity, agreement, and oneness. Through the two ministries ordained by God for them—Reconciled Living Ministries and Agape Covenant Temple—much fruit that remains is the testament of their labor: numerous souls into the kingdom of God, numerous sons and daughters in the faith. The work of the Lord that was directed by the Holy Spirit as Karl and Angel worked together. They brought fruit of many sons and daughters-in-the faith, now serving as five-fold ministers. Karl was a powerful man of prayer, a committed intercessor on God’s assignment! He faithfully prayed for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6).
Continuing into the decade of 2000’s, as a servant-leader whose heart was much more involved in serving with agape love (unconditional love) rather than being caught up in titles and positions, Karl was respected highly as he humbly, yet powerfully, represented and obeyed God. Always submitted to godly spiritual authority and leadership in his life, he worked with other churches and ministries. He knew and appreciated the importance of koinonia: Christian fellowship and community. He was a father-in-the-faith, biblical mentor and advisor to a diverse group of ministers and others. As a servant-leader he shared agape (unconditional love) while faithfully obeying the Great Commandment (Mark 12:30-31) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). With a spirit of excellence, he served God and humankind well. To God be the glory!!!
Bishop Karl Roy Gayle blew the shofar, made the covenant confessions to his covenant God, and preached his final gospel message on January 28, 2024. He enjoyed a delightful afternoon with his covenant wife, Angel, and their son, Brandon. Later in the evening, his God and Creator was calling him home (this was not understood at first). However, on February 5, 2024, it was confirmed and legally declared by medical doctors that the breath of life was no longer in his body. Karl had transitioned from the earth realm into the heavenly realm with his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. To God be the glory!!! “But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57, ESV).
Our beloved Karl leaves his legacy of life, love and service with precious memories in the hearts of Angel, his covenant wife, their son, Brandon, numerous sons and daughters in the faith, Deborah Taylor, a sister-in-the faith, and co-worker in the gospel, Zadoc Henry, a brother-in-the-faith, and co-worker in the gospel, and Maxine Miller, a sister-in-the faith, and a coworker in the gospel, and a host of ministers of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and friends.
