Obituary

Kenneth Carlton Times, a native son of Miami, was born at Jackson Memorial Hospital on February 12, 1965, to the parents of Willie Renee Grier-Times and Willie C. Times Jr. His upbringing was in Miami with his three older siblings, William, Dondra, and Karetha. his education was from Miami Dade County public schools, and his life’s career was spent as a professional painter and construction worker was in the tri-county area of Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties.

Kenneth believed in family and was married three times, with his first marriage to Evelyn Times in 1988, the second marriage to Brenda Wilcher-Times in 1991, and his final marriage was to Belinda Raynor Times in 2000. With the union of Belinda Raynor-Times, they raised two sons, Caleb Josiah and Elijah Joshua, in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Kenneth, affectionately known as KT, enjoyed fishing, sports, the Miami Dolphins, hanging out, dancing, barbecues, his television sitcoms, family, friends, and  pure praise and worship of Jesus but not necessarily the attendance of church. Kenneth’s proudest accomplishments on Earth were to send his youngest son to college and to live long enough to witness his graduation from the University of Central Florida in May 2024. His peculiar love for the Miami Dolphins ran so deep that he was known as a fanatic, a trait passed down to him from his father, Willie C. Times, Jr., and he has now passed it down to his youngest son, Elijah. Kenny was also an avid traveler, visiting such places like Los Angeles and Palm Springs, California, St. Petersburg, Florida, Savannah, Georgia, Charleston South Carolina, Soperton, Georgia, New York, Las Vegas, Marco Island, El Paso, Texas, Houston, Texas, Key West, Albany Georgia, Atlanta, Georgia, Orlando, Beech Mountain, North Carolina, Detroit, Michigan, Greenville, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Orleans, Canada, Jacksonville, Tampa, Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Bahamas, Jamacia, Sanibel and Captiva Islands, Marco Island, Tennessee, and Philadelphia. These were some of the places he traveled.

Kenny gave his life to Jesus in his twenties and was ordained a minister in his thirties. His life was not without his constant struggles, but Kenneth kept his faith in Jesus. He often stated that “Jesus was married to the backslider”, and he often went boldly to the throne of God for repentance.

Kenneth transitioned on June 24, 2024, at 9:42 a.m. in Miami at Jackson Memorial Hospital, the exact place of his birth. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Renee Grier-Times and Willie C. Times, Jr.; an older brother, William Stackhouse; and two cousin-brothers, Anthony Whatley and Barry Ellis, Sr.

He leaves to mourn: two sons, Elijah Joshua and Caleb Josiah; a devoted eldest sister and best friend, Dondra M. Times; another sister, Karetha Times-Marshall (Willie Marshall); two nieces, Chelsea Times-Marshall and Jalisa Thompson; a nephew, William Stackhouse; four aunts, Mae Whatley, Karetha Times-Ray, Gracie Johnson, and Haneefa Rasheed; four cousin-sisters, Tenesha Whatley, Shade Rasheed, Kianna Sellers, and Sabrina Douglas; a Fiancee, Kimberly Gumbs; four godsisters, Carolyn Scrivens, Mia Zonicle, Allyson Riles, and Michele Joseph; two godbrothers, Jeffery Scrivens and Caleb Taylor; and a host of cousins, friends, and neighbors.
