Obituary
Kevin “Caine” Thomas was born on April 4, 1966, in Miami, Florida, to Joann Conner Redhead and Freddie Thomas. Kevin received his primary education from Poinciana Park Elementary, Hialeah Middle School, and Hialeah High School.
In the face of adversity, Kevin’s unyielding spirit shone brightly. The challenges life presented him in the 90’s could have deterred many, but not Kevin. Despite being confined to a wheelchair by gunshots, he displayed courage that inspired us all. He refused to be defined by his circumstances and instead chose to define his own path.
Kevin leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories: his mother, Joann Conner (Christopher) Redhead; father, Freddie (Nelly) Thomas; Kevin’s legacy lives on through his children, Ashley Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Jr., and Kelvina (AlQwan) Leonard; the circle of his love widened as he became a grandfather to Keyani and Micah; Kevin also leaves to cherish his loving memories with his sisters, Katrina and Latrina Brooks, Elizabeth Higgs, and Cassandra Conner; his brother, Kurtis Johnson; Kevin leaves behind his ex-wife, Christine (Daryl) Pride; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kevin was preceded in death by brother, Keith Thomas, and uncles, Rodney Lee Conner and Willie Conner. His devotion to family was unwavering, and it’s a testament to his character that he instilled the values of strength, unity, and compassion in his children.
Kevin’s journey reminds us that life is a delicate and precious gift. It’s a reminder that our strength is not solely determined by the challenges we face, but by our resilience in overcoming them. As we bid farewell to Kevin today, let us celebrate his life by carrying forward his spirit of courage, love, and tenacity.
