Obituary

Lanard Montrell Stephens was born on September 16, 1977, at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL, to his loving parents, Leonard and Caroline Stephens.

He continued to grow up and live in Miami, FL, along with his three other siblings, Atoyia, Gerard, and Coretta.

In his youth, he received his education through the Miami Dade County public school system and graduated from William H. Turner Technical Arts High School and Community Education Center in 1997.

As a child, Lanard showed his love for big trucks and pursued a career as an over-the-road truck driver. Though he loved everything having to do with trucks, he retired early from the field. He was the father of five sons and one daughter by the names of Nijal, Nicarie, Laniah, Nico, James, and Jameion. He would often pester his sisters to “give me some nephews,” but he deeply loved his four nieces, Charity, Jayla, Asiah, and London. Lanard was a hilariously loving father, son, uncle, cousin, friend, and brother-in-Christ.

He enjoyed riding his bike and fishing, as he often found peace and solitude in these activities. We remember his quick smile and willingness to come to anyone’s aid. Lanard was an avid jokester and loved to spend time with his family when he wasn’t working as a mechanic on the trucks that he once loved to operate over the road.

Lanard was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Stephens.

Lanard leaves to cherish loving memories with his children, Nijal, Nicarie, Laniah, Nico, James, and Jameion; mother, Caroline Stephens; siblings, Atoyia (Melvin), Gerard (Kimberly), and Coretta (Keith); nieces, Charity, Jayla, Asiah, and London; and a host of other family and friends.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
