Obituary
Reverend Dr. Leeomia Williams Kelly was born on May 30, 1940, to Ms. Julia Williams of Thomasville, Georgia, father, John Bennet Williams, Yvonne Williams Kilpatrick and others. Her daughter, Tonya Minnis, now lives in Thomasville. She recorded many gospel songs, albums, etc. She presented a special tribute to her cousin, Reverend Roosevelt Hardy, Sr., with an instrumental solo in playing the hymn “To God Be the Glory.” Afterwards, the audience applauded with a standing ovation.
A scholar and in the field of education, Dr. Kelly was a graduate of Nova Southeastern University where she graduated with an Ed. D, in School Administration and Supervision. She earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Turner Theological Center at the Interdenominational Theological Center of Atlanta, Georgia, where she graduated of Florida International University in Miami, Florida, where she received a Master of Management in Public Administration and graduated with a Doctorate of Music degree from the School of Music, University of Miami. She also holds an Associate of Arts degree from Miami-Dade Community College. She resided in Miami, where she pastored an African Methodist Church. She was formerly a presiding elder of the A.M.E Church serving in the Bahamas. She is also a member of the A.M.E. Church Judicial Council and the President’s Advisory Board of Turner Theological Seminar in Atlanta, Georgia. She was formerly married to the late Reverend T.C. Kelly of Miami.
