Obituary

A time to be born

On the beautiful and tropical island of Nassau, Bahamas a bouncing baby boy named Leonard Raymond Ferguson was born on August 2nd, 1962 to the late Edgar and Dorothy Ferguson who both proceeded him in death.

A Time To Learn
Leonard, was affectionally called "ZION" by many of his family and friends received. Leonards early education was at St. Bedes Catholic Primary and he graduated from Aquanis College High School in Nassau, Bahamas.

A Time To Grow
Every weekend after high school and during the summer, Leonard worked alongside his father learning the in and out of father's construction business, which he truly enjoyed. Even though he worked in the family buisness, Leonard knew immedicately after high school that he wante to step away from construction to persue a career in law enforcement. In 1983, Leonard joined the Royal Bahamas Police force successfully graduating the police academy and wore the official badge number "908" Leonard stayed on the police force for a period of 15 years. As a young officer he worked alongside many prominent figures such as the late Right Honorable, Sir Lynden Pindling as his personal police escort, the Drug Enforcement Task force, Police Riot Squad and at various other police stations throughout the islands of Nassau, New Providence.

A Time To Build
In October 1997 Leonard relocated to Miami, Florida where he resided in the City of Miami Gardens for 30 years. Immediately after his relocation he gained employment in the construction field with Total Quality Construction and later on with Coastal Doors where he remained gainfully employed until death. Leonard was an avid Miami Dolphins Football fan whether they won or lost, he truly loved the Miami Dolphins and his dedication to his team was always on full display. He was also a huge fan of the L.A. Dodgers and L. A. Lakers, his love for the sports world was undeniable. He loved cooking and looked forward to cooking a variety of native Bahamian dishes for his family and friends (pigeon peas and rice, macaroni, conch salad and the best conch fritters in Miami), then heading out on Sundays to enjoy a good football game with the guys (Green, Alabama, Jeff and Kenny). In the past few years, he acquired a love for travel and enjoyed traveling back to his native homeland, the Bahamas during his birthday and Christmas holiday to enjoy the oh so great sound of his beloved junkanoo music and his group the World Famous Shell SAXON Superstar.

A Time To Die
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort" II Corinthians 1:3 On Tuesday, January 27th, 2026. Leonard received his freedom from this life's struggles on this earth and after a prolonged illness from early 2022. God saw that he was tired of this life's struggles and said "come on home my son from labor to reward and I will give you rest.
