Obituary

Lola was born on November 6, 1932, to the late Eddie B. Roberts and the late Annie Lou Roberts in Dawson, GA. She was the second born of een children and was preceded in death by eight of her siblings, Doris (Willie Lee), Eddie (Margaret), Floyd (Alice Roberts Smith), Raymond (Annie Lois), Rubye, Leonard, Glory, and Elma; two grandchildren, Wallace Virgin and Willie Wells III; and one great-grandchild, Eric Latane.

Lola spent her younger years in Dawson, GA, where she attended school in Terrell County, GA. She later moved to Orlando, FL, and eventually to Opa-locka, FL, with her seven children and made it their home.

Lola faithfully and passionately served on several boards as a member of Greater New Bethel Baptist Church and ensured that her children were actively involved as well. In 1985, she became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Lola was a resolute employee at Barfield Instrument Corp. and later Sheye’s of Miami Learning Center until she retired in 2018.

Lola’s first marriage was to the late Lawrence Virgin, and she later married Mr. Jimmy Lewis, who also preceded her in death.

Today, as we remember Lola, or “Mae” as she was a ectionately called, we remember a legacy of love. We remember a very strong, caring, and independent woman, who loved to travel, cook, and spend quality time with her family and friends.

On March 8, 2023, Lola Mae Roberts Virgin was called home to be with the Lord.
