Obituary
Mae Esther Williams Bodie was born on January 4, 1925, to Massie McGill and Jack Williams. She was the first of eight children.
Mae only married once, to Mr. Laban Bodie.
Ms. Bodie retired from a paper mill company. She, then, owned and operated a flower shop, where she sold and made corsages, hats, boutonnieres, and handkerchiefs. She was also an excellent seamstress.
She joined Mt. Calvary in its fledgling youth, under the leadership of Reverend E.M. Thomas.
Sister Bodie sang in the number one choir and the Atchison Special Chorus. She also worked diligently on the number one Usher Board as the treasurer and chief. She was also the drill instructor for the choir and ushers.
She was an Eastern Star member for over 60 years. One of her proudest moments was when she sang with James Cleveland.
Her family and church were number one in her life.
She leaves to mourn: her only sibling left, baby brother, Nathaniel Williams (Carmen); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
