Obituary
Malcom Clyde Carter was the fourth child of six children born on March 3, 1937, to Clyde Carter and Linnie Wright-Carter, in Wheeler County, Georgia. He was raised in Alamo, Georgia and later moved to Ft. Myers, Florida in the early 1950’s. This is where he met his future wife, Clara Mae Brown. They moved to Miami, Florida in 1963. “Big M,” as we affectionately called him, gave his life to Christ in 1983.
Malcom and his wife were dedicated and faithful members of Now Faith Missionary Deliverance Tabernacle Church for more than three decades. He worked as a tree surgeon at Russell Tree Trimming Service and an environmental liaison at Mt. Sinai Hospital for almost four decades combined. He later owned Our Time Soul Food, servicing some of the most prominent people in Miami-Dade County. “Big M” was known for his love for his family, his community, his debonair style, and lavishing himself in the latest colognes. He loved playing the Florida lottery faithfully. He was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.
Malcom is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Carter and Linnie Wright-Carter; Son, Michael Carter; Siblings, Cecil Carter and Sammy Lee; Brother-In-Law, James Jones.
He leaves to mourn: his dedicated wife, Clara Mae Carter; twelve children, Malcom Carter, Jr., Renae Carter, Larry Carter, Eddie Ruth Dupree, Dorothy Carter, Jeanette Mackey, George Callahan, Emily Bender, Donna Byrant, Ricki Callahan, LaFrance Carter-Holmes, Shantanika Angel Carter ; three surviving siblings, Betty Harris (Allen), Clyde Marie, and Eudell Jones sister-in-law, Dorothy Carter; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, beloved relatives, and sorrowing friends.
