Obituary
Life Reflections
Marian Barnhill was born on August 6, 1940, in Manning, South Carolina, to James and Ellen R.
Severance.
She was affectionately called “Candy” by her husband. She was the second eldest of her siblings.
She was a hard-working mother of two. She held several jobs in her life from cleaning houses, being a security guard, to her final job as a bus driver. She enjoyed doing her hair, traveling, going to the Kingdom Hall, telling jokes, and talking about her life experiences. She would tell us the story when she first drove her father’s car; she thought STOP meant spin tires on pavement. She also talked about a time she drove her father’s car into the house, and the time she and Bobby was pulled over when she was driving. The officer had to pop his trunk and fan his overheating car to catch up with her.
On March 5, 2023, Marian Barnhill departed this life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie Barnhill; parents, James and Ellen R. Severance; brothers, Alvin Lee and Timothy Andrew; son, Edward; brother, James Jr.; and grandson, Jorge II.
She leaves behind a lifetime of memories to her daughter, Mary Charadan; siblings, Paul (Shirley), Ellen, Elizabeth, Jacqueline, Rosco, Allen, Amos (Debra), Libranden, and Thomasina; granddaughter, Margarita (Estevan); great-grandchildren, Victoria and Laila; great-great-grandchild, Keddrick Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and loving friends.
