Obituary
Martha “Lossie” Spikes was born October 20, 1958, in Pompano, Florida to the late Catherine Hunt. Martha preceded in death by her mother and brother, Tommy Rice.
Martha moved to Miami in 1965. Martha graduated from Miami Northwestern in 1975. Martha would then become a waitress and cashier at Jumbo’s Restaurant until 2009, where people remember her as being bold and always making others laugh and smile.
In her early years, she would meet Marcus Earl Stanley, Jr., in Lincoln Field Apartments. They married on October 22, 1983. She would give birth to her daughter Channel Kimbrough on February 14, 1984. In 1990, she would meet James Wilson, Jr., at Jumbo’s Restaurant. She would later be blessed with her second daughter, Ebony Wilson, in March of 1996.
On Monday, May 2, 2024 at approximately 8:00 AM God whispered in a gentle voice to Martha “Come unto Me and rest.” And so it was, God dispatched his angels to her daughter’s home in MacClenny, Florida.
She leaves to cherish and embrace loving memories. Her devoted daughters, Channel (David) Kimbrough and Ebony Wilson; sister, Gloria Rice; brothers, Gregory Hunt, Tyrone Hunt, Quintin Hunt, Norris Rice, and Willie Rice; grandchildren, Samuel Brown, Michael and Troy Merritt, James Wilson, Javon, Khaleel, Jaleiah and Gabriel Kimbrough, Agape and Amani Belk; Godson, Corneille Azor; and with many nieces and nephews.
