Obituary

Mary E. Witter, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 14, 2024 at the age of 82 years old.

Mary was born on November 28, 1941, to Rebecca Bowers. She grew up in Pocotaligo, South Carolina. Mary then moved to Beaufort, South Carolina, where she worked as environmental staff for Sea Pine until she retired. Later, in 2010, Mary moved in with her daughter until she gained her wings.

Mary Elouise Witter will always be remembered for making everyone laugh and her favorite saying was “Can I have some cookies, candy, or some cake?” She would also wait until people come over and say “Shhhh, come here give me some grapes here”, knowing she can’t have it due to her diabetes. Rest well cookie monster.

Mary is now reunited with her late husband, Harry Witter, Sr. and three daughters, Harriett E. Pena, Sandra Witter, and Marie (Londa) Gardner.

She is survived by her daughters, Glenda Witter and Jeanette Witter; son, Harry Witter; grandchildren, Paul Witter, Jake Pena, Byron (Tanisha) Witter, Breannah Nelson Witter, Joshua Berks, Jasmine Berks, Janelle Berks, Terrance Scott, Marcus Scott, Alexis Scott, Ashley Scott, Gregory Scott, Kendrea Witter, Dyamond Witter, Jahleel Witter, Corey Witter, Jeremiah Gardner, Noah Gardner, Leah Gardner, Christian Gardner, Hannah Gardner, Walter Harris, and Ellis Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and family and friends.
