Obituary
Maxine Horne was born on May 13, 1954, in Miami, Florida, to John and Albertha Horne.
Maxine was baptized at a young age by Elder Isaac Cohen. She was a member of First Deliverance Church of God in Christ and served as an Usher.
Maxine graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High School, Class of 1973.
After graduation, she was hired by Goodwill Industries to work as a seamstress. However, sewing was not her passion; cooking was what she loved to do.
She started cooking for our family when she was 13 years of age. There were a lot of trial and errors through those years of cooking for your siblings. The biscuits were too hard or the chicken was burnt, and the... No, let’s just stop here :).
Maxine decided to further her skills in cooking and enrolled at Lindsey Hopkins Technical where she received her Dietician certification and worked as a dietary aide with Doctor’s Hospital and dietician with the Miami Dade public schools until her retirement.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Albertha Horne; siblings, James, Larry, John Jr., Venderaye, and Lois Ann; nieces, Glenora, Tangela; and nephew, Gerald.
Maxine leaves to cherish her memories: her siblings, Adlancy (Naana), Johnnie, Anthony (Elaine), Vincent (Sabrina), Sean, Colette, Michelle, Lazette, and Deloris; nieces, Yvette (Shawn), Desiree, Tanina, Artavia, Vintanique (Fabian), Terri (Niiquaye), Lori (Darrell), Chaka (Darren), Taquana, Maame, Johneitra, Rhonda, Pamela, and Ndyanao (Jasper); nephews, Greg, Ali, Martis, Kofi, Jahmere, Jovan, LaVontes, Tiant, Sammie, Karani, Dantrell, Mark, Larry Jr., Sean, and Alexander; great-nieces nephews; and a host of cousins and friends who will miss you dearly.
Maxine will always be remembered as easy going, loving, and devoted to our family. She was unwavering in her faith, despite obstacles.
