Obituary
Melissa Lynette Mark-Pinckney was born on August 8, 1973, to O.C. Mark and the late Barbara Jean Ross in Miami, Florida. In that union, she was blessed with an older sister, Pamela Mark-Hilbert.
Melissa attended school in the Miami-Dade County Public School System, where she met her loving husband, Romyer Deshon Pinckney. Later in life, the two were united in marriage in late 1993. A few years later, they welcomed their firstborn child, Aspen Pinckney. Six years later, they were blessed with their second child, Ja-Mall Pinckney.
All of her life, Melissa was a giver. Wherever she went, she shared all she had-especially her love with anyone willing to receive it. She loved everyone and always opened her arms and her home to care for children and families in her community. Once, a child found Melissa; that child found unconditional love and support. Melissa was an amazing wife, mother, sister, cousin, and aunt.
Melissa worked for 28 years at Florida Power & Light, where she truly loved her job and was a devoted and passionate worker.
Melissa sincerely loved her family and friends and was deeply committed to doing whatever she could for them-especially cooking, which she loved most. She was an exceptional cook, and preparing meals was one of her favorite pastimes, always sharing her dishes with others. She lived life to the fullest, taking every opportunity to create joyful moments. She stayed informed on matters affecting her family, friends, and community and never hesitated to speak her mind, whether you agreed or not. That was our Melissa.
Melissa was deeply family-oriented and cherished attending family gatherings. She was full of wisdom and always offered encouragement, helping others recognize their potential and reach their goals. No matter the time of day, she was always there with a helping hand.
At an early age, Melissa accepted Christ and was well-versed in the Word of God. She would proudly proclaim that God is good, God is powerful, and God is strong. Her loving and caring spirit extended into every area of her life, including her work. Though Melissa endured an extended illness, you would never know-she remained joyful, smiling, welcoming, and full of love, always offering hugs and kindness to all.
Melissa loved to travel and was very photogenic, capturing beautiful memories wherever she went.
