Obituary
Michael Washington Manderson (AKA as Mikey) was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on May 17, 1956, to the late Myrtle Lewis and Washington Michael Manderson.
Mikey was baptized at Brown’s Town Tabernacle in Jamaica. He faithfully attended church with his mother. Later he attended and joined Mt. Zion AME Church, Miami Gardens, FL. Where he served on the Trustee Board.
Mikey education started from, 1963 – 1968, at Brown’s Town Primary School; 1968 – 1971, at Brown’s Town Secondary. Mikey was the Head Boy (Valedictorian of his class). He further his education in Kingston, Jamaica at Excelsior High School (Business School) from 1971 - 1974.
As Mikey transitioned into the working world, he worked for Jamaica Fire Extinguish Company; and the Wings Jamaica Airport, this is where he began doing electrical work. In 1980 he moved to the USA. This is when Mike found his passion for Electrical Engineering. Mike got his electrical license to start his career and started his own business, M&M Electric. He was the project manager/supervisor and worked on various contracts/jobs doing electrical wiring for shopping malls, gas stations, homes, and anything with a spark. Mike was the man to call. He has mentor many young Black men in the electric trade field. He has employed over seventy plus workers over the course of his career.
2008 is when Mike and Rayna met, and the attraction was sparked immediately! In 2015, Michael was united in Holy Matrimony to Rayna Robinson.
God had given Mike an abundance of gifts, however, his gift of cooking fed many souls. His talented hands were known for creating the most delicious dishes that would leave everyone licking their fingers. Mike was given a gift of nurturing and supporting others.
Mike loved playing soccer with his friends, this was a ritual in Jamaica. Even though Mike stopped playing soccer he would still find enjoyment spending all day on the phone watching the games with his friends. Mike loved talking on the telephone with his family and friends. However, his Greatest Gift was spending time with his Grand Kids.
On October 17, 2023, he heard the voice of Jesus say, “My Son, walk into this beautiful light.” God chose to bring Mike home. God gently took Mike’s loving hands and walked him into the light.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandson, Kristian Colin Manderson.
