Obituary

Miss Louise McNeal Harris was born on July 31, 1942, to the late Sam and Beulah Lee Thomas of Valdosta, Georgia. Growing up, her education began at South Street Elementary School. She received her high school diploma from Pineville High School in Valdosta, Georgia, in 1961. Shortly after high school, she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. James M. Harris. They were married for over 44 years. In 1976, she received her Associate of Science in Fashion Design degree from the Miami Dade County Community College, in 1977. She received an associate in arts from Miami Dade County Community College in 1981. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics from Florida International University in 1982. She began her employment with the Florida Department of Education as a teacher at Madison Middle School and High School, teaching home economics. Soon, she began to worship with the Universal Truth Center and in February of 2024, she rededicated her life back to Jesus and accepted him as her personal Savior. She became a dedicated member and hard worker of several organizations: Phi Delta Kappa, the Redheaders of Florida, the Ladies of Leisure, and the NAACP.

She made it her priority to spend time with her friends and family, traveling from different cities and cruising to exotic islands. She loved designing, sewing, and cooking. Louise wanted to be remembered as a loving and giving person that respected others and more importantly, she truly loved her dog, BeBe. On July 19, 2024, she heard the voice of the Lord and transitioned from this life and gained her wings.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Sam and Buelah Thomas; sister, Jesse Mae Williams; and brother, Benjamin Thomas.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three sisters, Miss Ethel Lee Donaldson, Margaret Davis (Ulysses), and Joy Scott of Valdosta, GA; two brothers, Sammy Lee Thomas (Barbara) of Valdosta, GA, and Paul Thomas (Lois) of Atlanta, GA; special friend and companion, Mr. LaConte Fleuinord; godson, Louis Conley, Jr. (Tiny); long-time friend and neighbor, Miss Loretta Pieze; and a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her caregivers, Ms. Norma Walkin and Loretta Foster. We all will miss her and loved her dearly.
